“Together may we give our children the roots to grow and the wings to fly”. To mark the beginning of the new session 2017-18 Delhi Public School had organized a ‘Parent Orientation program followed by a workshop to welcome our parent fraternity.’ The orientation program was a detailed explanation about each and every aspect of the school along with useful tips to deal with children in a better way. The workshop was designed with an objective of bringing about a change in the direction of the thinking and working of parents. It dealt with behavioural difficulties in pre schoolers. The idea of the workshop was to make parents acquire skills aiding the holestic development of their children. The workshop aimed to create a foundation for a positive relationship between parents and teachers to set the stage for a smooth transition to school and future success.
Excursion to Sengar Resort
D.P.S is synonymous with knowledge based activities. Keeping this thought in mind an excursion to senger resort was planned for the children of classes 1 and 2. As they reached ‘Senger Resort’ they got an opportunity to connect with nature by going for a long walk in the beautiful gardens. They saw a variety of flowers and trees. The children took the pleasure of the various joy rides. They were instructed to move in pairs so that they learnt to take care of each other and also gather a sense of responsibility. The day came to an end with a mouth watering lunch of fried rice and Manchurian followed by piping hot ‘gulab jamuns’. The objective of such excursions is to inculcate public speaking in them and also to teach them how to move in big groups and yet keep themselves safe.
Excursion to Japanese Garden
Delhi Public School Servodaya Nagar organised an excursion to Japanese Garden on Wednesday 15.12.17 for Pre-Primary children. They enjoyed on swings, had lot of fun and relished magi and French fries which were given to them as refreshments.
Oxford Workshop classes I to V
Workshops are the practical approach of the learning process which targets towards the aim of imbibing through exercising. Keeping in pace with the same an oxford workshop was held in the school premises on 13.2.17. Mrs Monika Kakkar representing oxford took a very interactive session and narrated the famous story of Goldilocks and three bears, emphazing on the importance of voice modulation, body language and punctuation marks. A short poem was also narrated to test the listening skills which talked about the good lunch and the bad touch. It was followed by a group activity session which begins with dividing the children into groups and then writing the story with the help of the clues and props provided to them. The children showed the spirit of teamwork during the session. The children had to mention all the elements of a good story i.e name of the story, character, setting, main idea, problem/solution and finally a new little. Completing the activity in a limited time and at the end narrating the story with enactment showcased the spontaneity of the children. The objective of the activity was sequencing the events not only while writing a story but also in real life. Overall it was a motivating and fun filled activity.
D.P.S is synonymous with knowledge based programmes and activities. Taking this one step further a workshop on ‘pure hands’ was conducted by ‘Himalaya’. The objective of the workshop was to make the children aware of the various nuances of cleanliness through pure hands. They were told that it was very important to keep our hands clean as major diseases are transmitted through our hands. For the same they promoted their product the Himalaya hand sanitzer.
Cartoon Network Quiz Contest
"Fun and adventure" activity was executed by the Cartoon Network, on 6.09.16 one of the India's most popular kids' channel with the aim to nurture the spirit of imagination through physical activities, mental games, sports, team building exercises etc. The students of classes I to V got an opportunity to express themselves creatively to express themselves creatively. The students worked together in different teams to win exciting goodies from cartoon network and their associates.
Visit to McDonald
The Pre-Primary students of DPS Servodaya Nagar visited McDonalds on Wednesday, 31st August and these little ones thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

TRIP TO DOMINOS AND BIG BAZAR
Delhi Public School, Servodaya Nagar organized an educational trip to Big Bazar and Dominos at Rave Moti for Pre-Primary students on 31st July, 2015. The Students were taken inside the Dominos kitchen where they were shown the process of making pizza and garlic bread. After exploring the Domino’s kitchen, the students were served a Junior Joy Box . They enjoyed the tempting meal. The students were given Ninja Toys by the outlet. Thereafter the students were taken to Big Bazar. The different sections of toys, books, kids wear, grocery and billing counter were shown to them. The students bought a set of pencil and sharpener from Big Bazaar. The children spent happy hours there. It was a pleasing experience for all of them.
Scholastic Book Fair
We at D.P.S Servodaya Nagar are fully committed to making ourselves a centre of excellence for our students. Taking this one step forward a book fair was organized by the school on 25th, 26th and 27th September 2014 in collaboration with Scholastic India. A wide range of books including science, fiction, folk tales, legends and adventure tales and fairy tales were displayed to generate the interest for reading in children. The books had a refreshingly pleasant format with plenty of pictures to add to the joy of reading. All in all it was a very fruitful and engaging experience for our children as they browsed through the books and filled the wish list provided to them. The lucky draw was an added attraction.
Workshop on Self Defence
The ‘Art of Self Defence’ is a must learn in today’s world. Each individual irrespective of age or gender must be well equipped with some tricks to handle any life threatening situation. A workshop on self defence was organized in the school premises on Aug 9, 2014. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Atul Puri, Sub Inspector, Paramilitary Force, CISF. He briefed the students about art and gave a demo for the same. He explained that by keeping calm in such a situation and not panicking could help us to save our life. The workshop was an enriching experience for both the teachers and the students. Head Mistress, Ms. Anju Varma thanked Mr. Atul Puri for taking out time and conducting this beneficial workshop.
Earth Day Everyday Activity
Creating awareness for the environment amongst the younger generation is important for our future. We need to come together and join hands to save our Earth and make it cleaner and greener. This was the motto of ‘Earth Day Everyday Activity’ conducted for the Pre-Primary students on 10.7.14. The students were informed about the various measures that can be taken to save Earth and the little things we can do everyday to save our environment and planet earth. Making paper bags was a funfilled experience for them.

In order to spread awareness about the importance of being healthy among the students of our institution and to ensure that each student is fit and healthy, a Health Camp was organized at D.P.S Servodaya Nagar on 10th and 11th July, 2014.
A team of doctors including a physician, dentist, counselor and an eye specialist etc. examined each child thoroughly and patiently.
Students put forward their queries and were given important guidelines by the specialists to be fit and healthy.
To clarify the concept of colours, various colour days were celebrated in the school for the Pre-Primary students. The students came dressed up in different coloured attires to celebrate the days. The students participated in activities like Go Green, Paint me Red, Nature Walk and many more which re-emphasized the concept of colours.
Taking care of earth is not just responsibility - it's a privilege. To inculcate the importance of being eco-friendly a week long workshop for the students was organized at DPS Servodaya Nagar. Thematic quotations on display, added to the motivational campaign. 'Nature Scavenger Hunt' a nature walk in the school premises along with an interactive session on Mother Earth was conducted wherein the students were briefed about the importance of nature. The students tried their hands on the Potter's Wheel and made cute pots for themselves. An audio visual clipping depicting the beauty of Mother Earth was also shown to the students. "Each one plant one" a Sapling plantation activity was also conducted for the students wherein they learnt the use of different gardening tools and the need for planting trees.
