Children are often considered to be more creative and imaginative than adults. So to encourage our young minds to bring their thoughts to life. D.P.S Servodaya Nagar organised a Story Telling competition “Lasting Impressions” on 15th March’17. Each child had a unique story to tell. This competition helped them to work on their communication and language skills. Our respected Headmistress ma’am and judges appreciated the efforts put in by the parents for training our ting tots.
The students of Delhi Public School, Servodaya Nagar, Kanpur, in the 4th Open District Speed Roller Skating Champion and Stunt Show which was organised by the District Speed Roller Skating Association, Kanpur on 11th and 12th February 2017, at Sir Padampat Singhania Education Centre in the Roller Skating Ring, Kamla Nagar, Kanpur. Extending the legacy of D.P.S Servodaya Nagar the students bagged 5 medals in the event and gave a proud moment to the institution by winning an overall championship trophy with flying colours.

We can satisfy our every creative streak and give flight to our imagination by choosing different hobby ideas. There is a famous saying ‘creativity meets imagination’. Keeping in pace with this a workshop for students of classes I and II was held on 7th Feb 2017. The workshop was organised by Pidilite, provided a hands on experience on how to use various products to create amazing designs.
The students made unique patterns on old T- shirts and learnt various designing techniques. It was an overall unique and complete experience for art & craft and hobby enthusiasts.
Inter-House GK Quiz Competition of classes I to V
It has always been an endeavour to build confidence in our children by providing then ample opportunities to participate on stage. Taking this tradition a step forward, we have organised a quiz competition for our children today, to enhance their knowledge and inculcate group participation. The teams were set according to the houses allotted in the school. 5 rounds were conducted. Round 1 was a general round based on Current Affairs, Round 2 was a Buzzer round base on Mental Maths, Round 3 was based on Audio/Visual, and Round 4 was Object Identification Round while Round 5 was Rapid Fire Round.
Inverse- English Choral Recitation Competition
Poetry is the rhythmical creation of beauty in words. Keeping in line the healthy spirit of competition in mind an inter section English Choral Recitation was organised on 16th December ’16. The title of the poem was ‘The Tiger and the Zebra’. Same rhyme was recited by all the three sections of class I along with different props. The result was declared just after the competition.
Competitions are planned keeping in mind the growing needs of young learners to achieve near native competence in an international language.The choral competitions held on Tuesday, 20.9.16 proved this. To develop speaking skill and proper co-ordination among the students of class III. Inverse! (Choral Competition) was held on 24.12.16. The poem ‘Fun Fair’ was all about fair-The magic show, puppet show, drama and the swings, which provides great deal of fun to the visitors.
The memorization and recitation of poetry have been the central element of education since ancient times.By reciting poetry students develop speaking skill and proper co-ordination among the students of class IV. Inverse (Choral Competition) was held on 28.12.16The Poem “The Caterpillar and the butterfly” by Enid Blyton was all about the quarrel between the caterpillar and the butterfly on their living, without them knowing that they were speaking about their own innerselves.
Choral recitation is the means by which the children learn certain basics laws of phrasing, of projecting the voice and gains a sense of dramatic directions quickly and intelligently. To build a student’s self confidence and expand his or her knowledge of great literature class V organised “In verse English Choral recitation competition”on December 28, 2016. The poem “A Soldier Boy” by Jack Lambson was about the struggle of our soldiers who protect us at the borders sacrificing their pleasures for the love and safety of our nation.
Poetry is the essence of literature. To spread the knowledge of poetry and involvement of maximum students a Recitation Competition Spot On! was held for pre-primary at DPS Servodaya Nagar on 20th November. Students recited the rhymes confidently and the head gears were eye-catching for the occasion.
Inter School Open Golf Putting Championship
INTER SCHOOL OPEN GOLF PUTTING CHAMPIONSHIP-2016 was organised by Cawnpur Club LTD- Kanpur on 8.11.16 Ahmad Mustafa of class IV-A secured the Sub Junior Best Scorer Award.
India gained freedom after years of struggle against the British rule. So to pay tribute for those who sacrificed their lives to free their motherland a competition “Nanhe Wakta” on patriotic rhymes on 26-8-16 at DPS Servodaya Nagar.
Story Telling Competition
To Enhance the Confidence and Speaking Skills. DPS Servodaya Nagar organised an Inter Section Story Telling Competition on the 28th July 2016 for the Students of Class V.
The Competition focused on giving chance to tje students to learn how to pair gestures and words to bring characters and their actoins to life.Proper pronunciation and connotations remained the highlight of the event.

Science Fest - Inter School Competition
The objective of D.P.S Servodaya Nagar is to prepare the students for the future through integerated learning and motivating them to learn by practical application. The students are encouraged to participate in various competitions and activities to hone their skills and aptitude.
The school team participated in the Science Fest (Eureka - 2015) organised by Sheiling House for classes I to IV in the month of December. The two day event included a wide range of competitions like quiz, treasure hunt, collage and poster making, tech challenge, illuminati, skit, dress up as an endangered animal etc. Our school team participated in all the competitions and gave a tough competition to the other participating teams. The names of the team members are Arni Singh, Sarthak Mehrotra, Avisha Gulati, Nilanjan Chaubey, Arshlaan Khan, Sankalp Khandelwal, Yashvi Tekwani, Abhay Singh, Ayaan, Achintya Misra, Jiya Anand and Agamya Pandey.
On the basis of participation and excellent performance our school team won the “Overall Champions Trophy” for Eureka – 2015 and brought laurels to the school. The participants made the school proud with their commendable performance in all the competitions. The amazing confidence of the participants was appreciated by one and all. The winners who bagged the first rank in the various competitions were Tech Challenge – Achintya, Abhay ; Treasure Hunt – Arshlaan, Nilanjan, Achintya, Ayaan ; Jungle Safari – Sarthak Mehrotra ; Vigyan Prakriya – Achintya, Abhay ; Science of Miracle – Agamya, Ayaan. The Head Mistress Ms. Anju Varma congratulated the entire team of students and teachers for their achievement.
Reading is one of the life’s greatest pleasures that opens the door to culture, knowledge and independence. In order to inculcate good reading habits in our kids a reading competition was held on 16.12.15 for Pre primary children. Inculcating the habit of reading is much easier at this stage since children’s minds are like sponges soaking up maximum information and ideas. Children took part enthusiastically in the competition. On 5th November 2015 an intra class Maths quiz competition “Mathletes” was conducted for the students. In this competition different questions related to numbers were asked to the students as per their class level. The ones who gave spontaneous answers to maximum number of questions were declared as the winners.

The craft activities not only polish their creative skills but also refine a child’s fine motor skills. Keeping this in mind ‘Crazy Hats’ craft competition was organized for the tiny tots of D.P.S. Servodaya Nagar on 07.09.2015.This was an Intra class Hat decoration Competition. They were given cute hat cutouts and were asked to decorate them using their creativity.
An exposure oriented quiz contest was organized in the school premises by Cartoon Network on 13th August, 2015. The quiz had exciting rounds of questions, which received an overwhelming response from the kids. Children won attractive gifts and hampers in the various rounds, and played games.
